Day 4 - Great Ocean Road to Cape Otway

Ok...back to our Southern Australia Road Trip...

We left the hotel in Melbourne and began our amazing drive on the Great Ocean Road. We had some quick stops planned along the way - but our final destination was to Cape Otway. We had booked a cabin at the Camping under the Koalas Campground in the rainforest on the Great Ocean Road.

Quick stop at Bell's Beach (near Torquay) -
home to one of the world's longest running surfing competitions.

We stopped at a cafe for a much needed cuppa (coffee for mom and dad) -
and played some retro video games (pacman and galaga!)

More beautiful views of the coast...

The Split Point Lighthouse is famous for being featured
in the Australian tv series "Around the Twist"

"The finest ocean road in the world"

Stopping at the "Memorial Arch" was a must!

I had read that "Teddy's Lookout" was the best view along the Great Ocean Road...it sure was!

A bit windy at the top, though...

We planned a stop at Kennett River...as we read all about the wild koalas nearby...

Lots of birds too!

We had a delicious lunch at the Kafe Koala

Liam with our Kooky friend!

We continued on the drive towards Cape Otway...

As soon as we turned onto the road into the Cape Otway Rainforest...we hit the koala jackpot!

They were everywhere!

Once we checked into our cabin at the Camping Under the Koalas Park -
we went on a walk and found some more...

We figure we saw over 50 koalas in the wild over that 24 hours in Cape Otway...Here is a video showing them. Most were awake and active....and many had baby joeys with them!

We had a campfire and roasted some marshmallows...what a great night!

Day 5 - Towards the Twelve Apostles
