Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary - Brisbane

It was late afternoon when we arrived in Brisbane from Dreamworld,
so we headed out into the big city to explore and get a bite to eat.

A beautiful bright walkway with flowers

The next morning we woke up excited to cuddle our very first koala at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. We were travelling on the river cruise and spending the whole day among the animals.

We had time to search for a cafe and have a coffee and a bite to eat.

Nepalese Peace Pagoda

We saw a beautiful pool area (including a sand beach on the other side) in the middle of the city -
but it was too cold to jump in!

The muffins we found were more like dessert than breakfast. Yum!

We boarded the Mirimar II for our river cruise to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.

There are 15 major bridges in Brisbane - I think we eventually saw (or drove over most of them!)

This is the Green Bridge (Australia's first pedestrian, cycle and bus bridge - no cars!)

There were many beautiful mansions along the riverfront...

There are actually tenants renting apartments in this bridge!

There was a python in the tree when our boat pulled up to shore!

Our little buddies...Flying Foxes!

Tazzie Devil

Time to visit Bryce's new favourite animal - the platypus!

Lone Pine is the world's oldest and largest koala sanctuary (founded in 1927!)
There are over 130 koalas and it was rated one of the top 10 zoos in the world.

And then, it was time to cuddle some koalas

A proud moment!

That is one happy boy!

Bryce was so proud!

Even Eddie has been here!

More celebrity visits...a popular place!

We watched the koala presentation to learn more about our furry little friends

We watched the "Birds of Prey" show

And then it was off to the huge area filled with kangaroos (and some emus as well)

This is the roo "rest area"

And then Chy spotted this little sweetheart...with a Joey in pouch!

Cheese:)

Canadian shout out!

Saw this lizard on our way to the boat back to Brisbane

The captain let our boys have a turn driving the cruise boat...very trusting....

The loved it!
After returning from Lone Pine, Chy and I decided to fulfill one of Bryce's wishes since we arrived in Brisbane - riding the BIG WHEEL.

Time for a view of the city from above

Nice pic, Liam!
Some great artwork on the sides of buildings on our way back to the hotel.

Next stop: Tangalooma Resort on Moreton Island
